WHO ARE WE

CLSDP is a non profit agency providing mentoring programs related to the Culinary Arts and GED education. The program will form partnerships with local resturants to help foster a commitment to young people that will promote friendships, strong interpersonal skills, and reassert a sense of hope in the future. Only through personal relationships can a sense of individual responsibility be reestablished that will give youth the commitment to follow through on a path to adulthood with a sense of pride and accomplishment.

Through repeated families in the classroom and ongoing destructive habits, at-risk youth have lost faith in future possibilities and potential. To accomplish this goal, young peole must be in a caring, inclusive learning environment that promotes their best effort and reinforces personal respect.

CLSDP provides services that is in direct response to the growing number of youth that have dropped out of school or are entangled with the court system. The goal of the program is to identify youth who are having a turbulent transition to adulthood and offer a positive support system to avoid pitfalls that can derail their lives. The focus is slightly different with a culinary arts incentive., but the goal remains the same; empower the young person to make positive changes in his/her life.

CLSDP focuses primarily on youth between 16 and 21 years of age. This age group is particularly problematic and an appropriate tie for mentoring to be most effective. The program will offer classes in CUlinary Arts, Management, Leadership & Service, Finance, and GED prpeparation. Teachers and social workers will receive continuous trainng throughout the year and will participate in monthly meetings to report on their student's progress.

Over tie, CLSDP will creat a learning environment that will be an invalualbe resource to young people, aspiring mentors and the community at large.
